About

Twenty three bronze sculptures by Fernando Botero sit in the open plaza exactly as the artist intended, oversized figures locals lean against for photos rather than rope off behind glass. The Museo de Antioquia behind the plaza holds the largest single collection of Botero's paintings anywhere, donated by the artist himself, alongside pre-Columbian and colonial era Colombian art. The surrounding streets are the busiest and most chaotic in the historic centre, keep bags zipped and valuables out of sight same as any dense downtown plaza.
